Sumatra Gayo KSU
Cedar, sage, and molasses: the deep, earthy, low-acid cup Sumatra is known for, roasted dark to lean into it. Wet-hulled and sun-dried in Aceh, the way the region has processed coffee for generations.
The KSU Gayo Antara cooperative is 363 members, 105 of them women, farming volcanic soil at 1,400 to 1,600 meters. This is a heavy, herbal, cabin-in-the-woods coffee. People who want bright and clean should look elsewhere; people who want a French press that tastes like a fireplace have found their bag.
