About Small Hours

Small Hours is a small online shop for specialty coffee and the gear to make it — run from a home bar in South Florida, where a La Marzocco Linea Mini, a Linea Micra, and a Mazzer Philos share the counter with whatever’s being tested against them that week.

It exists because buying good coffee equipment online is worse than it should be. The gear that matters is scattered across a dozen sites, buried in gadget noise, and described by people who’ve never dialed anything in. So the shelf here stays short, on purpose: equipment chosen for temperature stability, grind uniformity, and repeatability; cups and servers from makers whose names are on the page; coffee from roasters worth drinking.

Nothing goes on the shelf until it’s earned its spot on the bar. When something stops holding up, it comes off — and the Journal says why.
